Announcing Barbara Byrnes Retirement

After 32 years in the industry and 12 years at FIVE STAR, beloved Account Executive, Barbara Byrnes, has announced her retirement.

“I know everyone joins me in thanking her for her 30+ years of service to the industry and for her quiet and steady demeanor throughout all the ups and downs. She has been a tremendous asset to the company,” said CEO Steve Gardner.

Barbara has been a wonderful teammate and friend to everyone at FIVE STAR and has rightfully earned the respect of the coworkers, clients and speakers who’ve seen her quality and professionalism firsthand.

Though we are all sad to see her departure, we thank Barbara and wish her only the best.

Congrats Barb!!! We will miss you!!!

Durwood Fincher, Mr. Doubletalk, will be on The Mike Huckabee Show this Weekend!







There are three degrees of connection in this story: Terry Fator, Mike Huckabee, and Durwood Fincher. After Durwood (Mr. Doubletalk) was on the Huckabee Show in March, he received a call from the Terry Fator Show (the Number One show on the Vegas strip) inviting him to Las Vegas.

Durwood zoomed out and met Terry Fator and his illustrious crew, went to the show with Terry’s mother and discovered in the process that they ALL are HUGE Huckabee fans. FIVE STAR MOVING DAY!

FIVE STAR Speakers & Trainers is in the process of moving offices today!! Yay! We couldn't be MORE excited! We are relocating just a few miles south - but we are moving into Lighton Towers, which has a more corporate/bigger feel! The building we've been in for the last 15+ years was owned by the founders of FIVE STAR, Nancy & Bill Lauterbach (Nancy is still working as a sales member of FIVE STAR) and they recently sold their building. Congrats to them! The new move will be an nice, new start for FIVE STAR. Recently, Steve Gardner became the sole owner and is now the CEO (not a partner) of the company! Congrats to Steve! Steve has been in working in the professional speaking industry practically his entire life and has had YEARS of experience working with both sides - clients & speakers. (He also coaches people who would like to start a professional speaking career. If that interests you, please contact him for more details.)We've also added a few new team members this year: Carol Crites, Layla Foxx-Zagorsky, Brion Connolly & Walker Moskop.

With this move, we have transitioned into a more remote-environment where the majority of the team works remote from their home-offices (part-time or full-time) which allows us to be a lot more green (saving on gas, actual office space, and moving our ENTIRE business completely digitally - saving on paper, hard-copy demo videos, and TONS of additional materials and marketing pieces... I mean, we do work with 18,000 speakers!)

We are proud to be serving our clients & speakers - and look forward to this next chapter! Come by and visit us in our new space! We'll be there starting 8am on Monday, April 5th! Our new address (off College & Metcalf in Overland Park, Kansas) is:
